Dodgers Trade Left-Handed Pitcher to Oakland Athletics

The Los Angeles Dodgers have traded left-handed pitcher T.J. McFarland to the Oakland Athletics for cash considerations. The team made the announcement on Tuesday.

McFarland, 34, joined the Dodgers on a minor league deal this offseason and spent spring training with the club.

McFarland had a strong spring, sporting a 1.35 ERA in 6.2 innings with Los Angeles.

He wasn’t going to make the Dodgers’ Opening Day roster, so they shipped him off to Oakland for cash.

McFarland began his MLB career back in 2013 with the Baltimore Orioles. He spent four seasons with Baltimore, before spending the next three with the Arizona Diamondbacks. He then bounced around between the Oakland Athletics, St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets.

McFarland has a career 4.14 ERA in 354 appearances. He’s entering his 12th season in Major League Baseball.
