Dodgers: Trayce Thompson Sees a Similar Thread Remaining from First Tour with Club

You’ve read it here a bunch lately… the Dodgers are pretty good. Like really pretty very good. The club is in the midst of a 10 game winning streak and leads all of baseball with 77 wins and +236 run differential, more than 100 runs better than the next best NL team.

For fans, these are exciting times. But these times almost might just start feeling a little ho hum.

Yes, the Dodgers are good at winning. They were built to do that. For outfielder Trayce Thompson, the expectation of winning is ever present in the clubhouse. And it’s something, he told reporters on Tuesday, remains from the first time he was in LA.

“I think it’s pretty expected here, that’s kind of the crazy thing. We’re just trying to take it one game at a time. That’s how it has been, or at least that’s how it was six years ago when I was here: just try to go win a baseball game today. This group is certainly very capable of winning every day. It’s pretty cool.”

The one game at a time mantra is something we’re certainly used to hearing from veterans like Justin Turner among others over the years. They don’t get too high for a big series and they don’t get too low following a tough loss. This is a club that understands the ups and downs and grind of a 162 game season.

“Stay within ourselves.”
“Try not to do too much.”
“Stick to the game plan.”

We’re heard all these plenty over the last half decade…

You don’t rattle off 8 division titles in a row without that mindset.

So while winning is expected in LA and perhaps, just maybe, the Dodgers beating up on another club is starting to feel a little ho hum, it’s a feeling we surely should not take lightly. You are, without a doubt, watching one of the best Dodger teams of all time.

  1. All so true. This team is remarkable. At the moment, they are the best in baseball at almost every aspect of the game. They win at home, on the road, day or night, with early onslaughts and come-from-behind victories, they win by better pitching, better offense, defense. The one word that I use to describe this team, like the 2017 and 2020 teams is – relentless. When they are on their game, they attack every at bat, every pitch, every run or stop possibility. Relentless. I love it.
