Dodgers Vs. Angels Preview: Greinke Kicks Off Freeway Series
After losing two out of three to the Chicago Cubs this past weekend, the Los Angeles Dodgers start a new series against a local opponent.
The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim come into Dodger Stadium Monday for the first of two games at Chavez Ravine before the series shifts to Angel Stadium.
On the mound for the Dodgers is Zack Greinke (12-6, 2.65 ERA) who is coming off a 2-2 record with a 2.27 ERA in the month of June. Greinke went eight innings and struck out 13 in his last start, which was a 3-2 win over the Atlanta Braves. Greinke has a 6-1 record and 2.52 ERA at home.
The Angels counter with Garrett Richards (11-4, 2.74) who holds a 6-2 record with a 2.14 ERA on the road this season. Richards leads the Angels in ERA and strikeouts and has broken out this season to become one of the more formidable pitchers on the staff.
Richards did struggle in his last however, as he gave up four runs in 4-3 loss to the Baltimore Orioles.
On the offensive side for the Dodgers, Matt Kemp is hitting .455 on the homestand and was named the National League Player of The Week. After a day off for rest, Dee Gordon returns to the lineup. A.J. Ellis also returns after missing time with a bruised knee.
