Dodgers vs Brewers: Latest Betting Odds, Predictions and Picks for August 24

The Dodgers are looking to win the series and the season series with the Brewers tonight. They’ll send Andrew Heaney, coming off his first bad start of the season, to the mound against Milwaukee’s Adrian Houser.

Heaney is 1-1 with a 1.77 ERA, but in his last start, he allowed five runs on three homers to this same Milwaukee club. Andrew McCutchen got him with a solo homer and a two-run homer, and Hunter Renfroe knocked a two-run homer after McCutchen reached on a strike-three passed ball that should have ended the inning. The hope is that Heaney can maintain his strikeout stuff — he whiffed 10 batters in 4.2 innings — while avoiding the mistakes over the middle of the plate.

Houser gets the start for Milwaukee, his first start since June 30. He’s been on the injured list with a forearm issue. The game was originally supposed to be started by lefty Aaron Ashby, who went on the IL himself this week with a shoulder issue. On paper, Houser looks like the kind of pitcher the Dodgers would knock around a bit: he doesn’t strike out many hitters, he walks more guys than he should, and he throws with his right hand.

While games aren’t played on paper, the betting odds reflect what the paper says.
