Dodgers vs Cardinals: Betting Odds and Predictions for Wednesday’s Game

The Dodgers and Cardinals are set to play the final game of their series tonight in Los Angeles Walker Buehler gets the ball for LA going up against the St Louis’ Carlos Martinez. A whole lot of velocity in this matchup.

Buehler matches up pretty well against the Cardinals lineup, with a whole lot of success against Nolan Arenado and some against Paul Goldschmidt. Arenado is 5-for-29 in his career against the Dodgers hurler and has struck out 10 times. He has taken Walker deep twice in his career.

On the flipside, Martinez has not seen much of the Dodgers in his career. He’s been able to go deep into games for the most part in 2021, finishing off at least 5 innings in each of his 9 starts. The Dodgers will look to take advantage of the fact that Martinez doesn’t miss a lot of bats, averaging just over 5 punchouts per 9 innings.

  • Cardinals Odds: +185
  • Dodgers Odds: -225
  • Over/Under: 8

Predictions: Buehler is coming off of 3 starts in which he has allowed just 2 earned runs in 20 innings of work. If there has been a weakness in his game over that span, it’s been his control. Buehler has issued 8 walks in those 3 games while also punching out 15 batters for the Dodgers.

Alternatively, the Cardinals don’t walk often, ranking 20th in all of MLB with 165 walks in 2021. If Buehler can keep the ball in the park and on the ground, this should be a good one for the Dodgers.

Over or Under? The Dodgers and Cardinals went from scoring 13 runs on Monday night to just 5 runs combined on Tuesday. Martinez has not given up many homeruns in 2021, while Buehler has been mostly burned by the long ball. It’s close, but taking the under seems like a good bet in this one.
