Dodgers Vs. Cardinals Preview: Ryu Goes For 10th Win Of The Season
If the Los Angeles Dodgers are going to win their fourth straight game tonight they’ll need a strong outing from Hyun-Jin Ryu.
After a thrilling 1-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals Thursday, Ryu takes the mound and will face the Cardinals for the first time since Game 3 of the NLCS where he gave up three hits in seven shutout innings. The Dodgers won the game, 3-0, in what was his lone NLCS start.
Ryu has won three consecutive home games behind a 2.79 ERA and is coming off a six solid innings against the San Diego Padres during the Dodgers’ six-game road trip.
With Michael Wacha unavailable due to a shoulder injury, the Cardinals counter with Carlos Martinez. The right-hander has typically served as a relief pitcher and is making just his fourth career start.
Martinez is 1-3 with a 4.33 ERA this season. He allowed three runs in five innings of work in a 5-3 win over the Philadelphia Phillies in his last start.
One of Martinez’s career starts came in a game where he squared off with Ryu last season. In the loss, Martinez allowed four runs in on seven hits in 4.2 innings.
Hanley Ramirez is again absent from the Dodgers’ lineup with Miguel Rojas earning another start at shortstop. Andre Ethier was also give the night off as he’s dealing with some minor issues.
With a win, the Dodgers will have their first four-game winning streak this season.
