Dodgers vs Reds: Betting Odds and Predictions With Tony Gonsolin on the Mound

The Dodgers and Reds will start their 3-game series this afternoon in Cincinnati. Coming off of a series loss against the Guardians, Los Angeles will send out one of their best arms in Tony Gonsolin. And he will be going for his MLB-leading 9th win of the season.

Gonsolin is coming off of an outing in which he shut out the Angels for 6.1 innings and struck out 6 batters while allowing just 1 hit. He continues to be the Dodgers most reliable starter and will look to continue his All-Star campaign against a bad Reds team

As of right now, the Reds are the worst team in the NL with just 23 wins. The Dodgers will face off against Tyler Mahle, a guy that could very well be traded by this summer. Mahle is coming off a ridiculous performance last week, tossing 9 shutout innings against the Diamondbacks and punching out 9 batters. He has tallied a 1.71 ERA in the month of June.

  • Reds Odds: +158
  • Dodgers Odds: -188
  • Over/Under: 9.5

Predictions: On one hand, the Dodgers should beat the worst team in the National League. But the offense has struggled and Mahle is also coming off of a really good outing and has had a really good month. There’s a reason the oddsmakers have this match-up closer than any of the Guardians games from the weekend.

That being said, it’s hard to bet against the Dodgers here, regardless of the pitching matchup. Plus, Tony is just good.

Over or Under? The Dodgers’ offense is still very bad. And with the pitching matchup-up between these two teams, there shouldn’t be many runs scored at all. Take the under on this one and let Gonsolin do his thing.
