Dodgers: Watch Hanser Alberto’s Teammates Lose it After His First Career Strikeout

In his record-breaking eighth pitching appearance of the season  the most by a position player in MLB history — Dodgers pitcher infielder Hanser Alberto did something special.

After getting Padres’ First Baseman Josh Bell into a 1-2 count, Alberto brought the heat. He painted a 68 MPH fastball on the outside corner, ringing up Bell for the first strikeout of his young pitching career.

With that, the Dodgers bench went absolutely nuts celebrating the moment. Brusdar Graterol and Yency Almonte had smiles going from ear to ear as they demanded the baseball back from the field as a keepsake for their relief ace.

Everything about the moment was fun and a look into the great chemistry this team has going down the stretch. You can watch the moment in a great breakdown from our own Doug McKain.

Hanser Alberto First Career Strikeout Breakdown, Dodgers Position Player Pitching Makes History

Alberto has been a regular on the mound for the Dodgers this season, as they’ve continued to find themselves in blowouts.

The 29-year-old has been impressively dominant in his role as a closer, allowing just three earned runs across eight innings of work.

With just under 30 games left in the season, Hanser should have a few more opportunities to get on the mound, and build upon his one career strikeout. He now finds himself just 2,673 away from tying Clayton Kershaw for the most in franchise history.
