Flaherty will start Game 1 for the second consecutive postseason series. Flaherty was the Dodgers’ Game 1 starter in the National League Championship Series against the New York Mets, and he was nearly flawless, throwing seven shutout innings allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out six.

While Flaherty was much worse in his second NLCS outing — he allowed eight earned runs in three innings with zero strikeouts — the Dodgers are relying on him to start the World Series off on the right note.

As for Yamamoto, he’ll certainly get the Game 2 nod, and will look to replicate his early June performance against the Yankees. On June 7 in New York, Yamamoto had the best start of his young MLB career, throwing seven shutout innings, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out seven.
