Former Dodgers Outfielder DFA’d By New York Yankees
Former Los Angeles Dodger outfielder Taylor Trammell has gone through his third team in the first month of the MLB season.
The New York Yankees announced that Trammell has been designated for assignment. The 26-year-old joined the Yankees only two weeks ago after being designated for assignment by the Dodgers. This is the third time this season that Trammell has been DFA’d.
Trammell started the season with the Seattle Mariners. On March 28, he was DFA’d as he failed to make Seattle’s Opening Day roster.
The Dodgers claimed Trammell off waivers on April 2. He only had six at-bats for Los Angeles with three strikeouts and was DFA’d on April 16.
The Yankees took a chance on the outfielder two days later. In five games in New York, he singled in his only at-bat and was used primarily as a defensive replacement.
Ultimately, Trammell was pushed off the 40-man roster to make room for infielder Jon Berti. Berti is returning from a groin injury. The Georgia native could possibly be claimed off waivers again by a team that needs outfield depth.
In Trammell’s career, he is a .167 batter with 15 home runs, 39 RBIs, .633 OPS, and 51 hits in 116 games.
