Former Dodgers Outfielder Trayce Thompson Agrees to Minor League Deal With Mets

While Dodgers fans wait for other pending moves their team could make in the coming days, a former L.A. Dodger has found a new home.

Former Dodgers outfielder Trayce Thompson has inked a minor league deal with the New York Mets. New York insider Andy Martino was among the first to report on the signing.

Thompson spent time with the Dodgers from 2016 to 2017 and had another stint with the team from 2022 to 2023.

As a Dodger, the 32-year-old slashed .223/.319/.449 with a .768 OPS, 32 home runs, 87 RBIs, and 125 hits in 217 games. His time as a Dodger ended in disaster, though. After signing a one-year deal with L.A. at the start of 2023, Thompson came out the gates hot. However, Thompson’s tenure in L.A. ended with him hitting .155 in 36 games before being placed on the injured list in early June due to a strained left oblique.

In late July, the Dodgers traded the 32-year-old to the Chicago White Sox in exchange for Lance Lynn and Joe Kelly. He struggled to find his form and finished the season slashing .171/.261/.232 with one homer, three RBIs, and two stolen bases.

The veteran now has a new place to call home, and we’ll see if he’s able to make the Mets’ MLB roster at any point next season.
