After the game, Freeman provided an update on his condition to Jack Harris of the LA Times and Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register.
Freeman said during his last round of batting practice, he felt discomfort in the same area of the ribs he hurt during last year’s postseason run.
However, he added it is much less severe this team around, and said he even wanted to play in Tuesday’s season opener.
He put it at a 75 percent chance that he can play on Wednesday, depending on how it feels.
The Dodgers were able to manage without Freeman on Tuesday, taking down the Chicago Cubs by a score of 4-1 (click here for the full game recap and highlights).
Game 2 for the Tokyo Series is Wednesday, and then the Dodgers travel back to Los Angeles and start preparing for domestic Opening Day on March 27. The team will play three spring training games against the Angels before they re-kick off their 2025 season against the Detroit Tigers.

If I am the Dodgers I would err on the side of caution with Freddie.
Definitely agree with you — no need to rush him back in Games 1 or 2/162
I hope that Freddie will be ready to play after the freeway series, If not, I wonder if that could enhance a trade with the red Sox for Devers. That would mean playing Muncy at first base. It might be the best alternative if Freddie is down for a while.
