Giants’ Ross Stripling Says Dodgers Are in ‘Full Villain Mode’ This Offseason

The Los Angeles Dodgers seem to be on track to be the most hated team in Major League Baseball in 2024. After signing Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Teoscar Hernández, and trading for and extending Tyler Glasnow, the Dodgers are turning into the new evil empire in baseball. The deferred money in their free agent deals isn’t making them any more liked.

The Dodgers may not have won a World Series since 2020, but expect every team to give L.A. their best this season — and expect every fanbase to cheer especially loud when the Dodgers lose.

One former Dodger is taking notice of what’s going on in Los Angeles, and that’s current San Francisco Giants pitcher Ross Stripling. In an appearance on Foul Territory, Stripling noted that the Dodgers are in “full villain mode” this offseason.

“As far as what the Dodgers did, the way I look at it is that they are just going full villain mode in a way. They’ve always had the payroll, but they’ve done an unbelievable job in drafting and developing talent. I think that World Series team had like 16 home grown Dodgers on it. Now it’s Freddie, it’s Mookie, it’s Shohei and it’s Yamamoto, and they’re coming for everybody.”

Stripling played for Los Angeles from 2016 to 2020, and earned an All-Star appearance in 2018. Now, he is with the arch-rival Giants, and will do his best to help take the National League West away from L.A.

But he sees what the Boys in Blue are doing, and he’s likely not the only opposing player taking notice.

The Dodgers are trying to build an empire in MLB, and they’re hoping the offseason success translates to postseason success next season.

  1. Fight back and don’t just roll over. Too much at stake. It’s not just about 2024. Why have the Giants not secured Brandon Woodruff for 2025, Jiemer Candelario got away, why? Can you imagine Webb, Woodruff, Ray, plus Harrison, Beck , Winn, Cobb Strippling and Hicks as back up?
