Max Muncy Blasts Dodgers Critics With NSFW Rant After Beating Padres

Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy didn’t forget that a majority of baseball experts picked the San Diego Padres to win the National League Division Series. While the champagne showers continued in the Dodgers clubhouse, Muncy took the opportunity to call out the Dodgers’ doubters.

“Eighty percent of you (expletive) didn’t believe in us,” Muncy said. “Eighty percent of you (expletive) thought we were going to lose.”

Despite the use of expletives, Muncy is a hundred percent correct. The Dodgers finished the regular season with the best record in baseball, yet San Diego was heavily favored to win the NLDS.

Experts believed the Padres had the edge over an injury-ridden Dodgers rotation, which made the Dodgers the unlikely underdogs. It was the perfect chip on their shoulder to overcome the postseason woes of the past.

History didn’t repeat itself Friday night. The Padres were slated to triumph over Los Angeles for the second time in three years, but lo and behold, the Dodgers held on to advance to their first NLCS for the first time since 2021.

Forgotten was the dynamic San Diego roster, remembered was the 24 consecutive scoreless innings from a Padres team that was dubbed the hottest team in baseball since the All-Star break.

There’s no denying the Padres were on a roll in the second half of the season, but the Dodgers rolled over their rivals Friday night.

Once the Padres had a 2-1 lead in the series, even Dodgers fans felt that the NLDS was slipping away from the Los Angeles team. It was a familiar feeling.

However, Yoshinobu Yamamoto came through. The $325 million man pitched five scoreless innings. The Dodgers bullpen followed suit.

“It’s relief. It’s redemption,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said postgame. “I wanted to beat those guys. We all wanted to beat those guys really bad. We played a very good ball game today, certainly on the pitching and the defensive side.”

“We’re going to celebrate tonight, as you can see,” Roberts added. “But the job’s not done and you will see the focus, the fire going forward, with the expectation to win eight more games. And that Mets team is playing really good baseball, but we’ll be ready.

Now, the Padres are a thing of the past. On to the next.
