Jimmy Rollins broke up Kazmir’s perfect game with a leadoff single in the fourth, but was thrown out attempting to stretch it to a double. Rollins was adamant he got under Altuve’s tag, which prompted Dodgers manager Don Mattingly to challenge the out call, though to no avail.

Yasiel Puig hitting a sinking liner with plenty of English on it, handcuffing Correa who was charged with an error; it was later overturned a ruled a hit. Turner dropped to 0-for-his-last-19 by striking out and Kazmir worked his way out of the inning by getting Adrian Gonzalez to ground out.

Utley’s first hit with the Dodgers appeared to be a one-out triple in the fifth, but upon review of the play it was determined the ball bounced and hit the foul pole in right field, thus resulting in a ground-rule double. It proved to be a significant difference as Kiké Hernandez followed with a fly ball to the right field wall.

Yasmani Grandal kept the inning alive by drawing a two-out walk, but Alex Guerrero stranded both runners by striking out swinging on a full count and the Dodgers continued to trail 2-0. Greinke set the Astros down in order in the fifth, giving him 10 consecutive batters retired to that point.

Rollins made good for missing out on a double in the fourth by hitting his 500th career double to leadoff the sixth. Puig advanced Rollins with a grounder to first base, and Turner’s RBI single got the Dodgers on the board. Gonzalez also collected a base hit but the Dodgers wouldn’t push another run across.

Altuve disrupted some of Greinke’s momentum with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth to pad the Astros’ lead. Will Harris replaced Kazmir in the seventh and struck out two of three batters faced. Pat Neshek entered in the eighth and like Harris, retired the Dodgers in order.

The Dodgers couldn’t build on Gonzalez’s leadoff single and Utley beating out a double play ball in the ninth and lost to the Astros, 3-1, despite finishing with seven hits to Houston’s three. Magnifying the loss was the Dodgers failing to take advantage of the San Francisco Giants losing to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
