Shohei Ohtani Has ‘Expressed Affinity’ for 3 Teams, Including Dodgers
The winter of Shohei Ohtani is here, and the Dodgers are expected to be aggressive in trying to bring him to town. He is the biggest star in baseball and LA seems to have a great chance to land him this offseason.
MLB insider Jeff Passan of ESPN is reporting that Ohtani has expressed affinity for three teams, including the Dodgers. The other two include the Boston Red Sox and Texas Rangers.
“Ohtani, according to multiple sources, has expressed affinity for certain teams and cities in the past. He deeply respects the Los Angeles Dodgers’ winning ways, their ability to develop players and their progressive coaching approach.”
Per Jeff Passan of ESPN.com
Passan is as locked into baseball knowings as anyone around the league, so when he talks, people listen. It is nice to hear that Ohtani values the aspects that make the Dodgers appealing to him in free agency, and it’s likely why most in the industry see LA as the favorite to sign him.
Ohtani has made it clear that he wants to win at the highest level consistently, and the Dodgers are one of the only clubs that can offer him that. Landing with the Dodgers would give Ohtani the chance to win that he never had, a massive payday and he wouldn’t have to leave the comfort of Southern California.
“The Dodgers do have advantages: financial, geographical, on-field success. They also have a history of signing large deals –on their terms. And with Ohtani coming off an elbow-ligament surgery in October that will keep him from pitching in 2024– raising a legitimate question about what his future pitching looks like.”
Per Jeff Passan of ESPN.com
LA remains a very serious option for Ohtani, and he would thrive playing in the city of Los Angeles. Both on and off the field, Ohtani is a star, and he deserves to be in a place that treats star players exactly like royalty.

Again, no one really knows, everyone, including Jeff are simply speculating based on speculations.
A better investment may be trading for the Padres 25 year old Juan Soto. The Dodgers would still need 2 stud, starting pitchers if they want to advance in post season play.
Juan Soto is a total fill in the blank
It’s. a waiting game until Ohtani signs , then the pieces. will start falling.
