Shohei Ohtani Rumors: Insider Lists Reasons Why Dodgers Remain Favorites in Free Agency

As the Dodgers kick off their offseason, the one thing on their minds is how they can land two-way superstar free agent Shohei Ohtani. LA has been gearing up to land Ohtani for years now, and they finally have another shot to sign him this winter.

The Dodgers plan to be aggressive in landing Ohtani, and they may offer some advantages that others can’t grant him. MLB insider Jon Morosi appeared on MLB Network and broke down some things that the GM Meetings revealed about the free agency of Ohtani.

“He’s probably less concerned about geography and more concerned about the quality of the team that he’s going to. Yes, money is going to matter, we know that. Yes, the Dodgers probably remain the favorites to sign him and they are a West Coast team and they have got the capacity to spend. That’s a really key thing with the Dodgers, not only is it a very quality team that wins the division basically every year in the last decade, but they’ve got a lot of room to spend and build a roster out around him. So I do think yes, there is still an advantage to the Dodgers.”

If Ohtani is deadset on winning consistently, while also being on a team that is proactive when it comes to roster construction, the Dodgers may be the only team that can offer him that. LA has made the playoffs for 11 straight years, and they don’t seem to be going away anytime soon.

The team would give him a legitimate chance to win the World Series every single season, which is something that the majority of teams can’t offer to him. Plus, there is an added bonus of Ohtani getting to stay in Southern California as well, a place that he has come to be very comfortable in.

The Dodgers and Ohtani feel like a match made in heaven, and it’s a big reason why the team is the frontrunner to land him this offseason. Ohtani may elect to go elsewhere, but if he is serious about winning, the Dodgers are the team to offer him everything he wants.

Landing Ohtani would be the biggest get for this franchise, possibly in the organization’s history. He is the biggest show in baseball today, and the entire world would have their eyes on LA for as long as he was with the team.
