Shohei Ohtani News: Insider Shuts Down LA Trade Rumors, ‘He’s Not Getting Traded to the Dodgers’

Words cannot express the buzz around the possibility of Shohei Ohtani being traded away from the Angels.

And with two weeks until the trade deadline arrives, Dodger fans can only be so hopeful about getting him this season… until Jon Heyman said otherwise.

Baseball analyst and insider, Jon Heyman, says that there is no way the Dodgers will get Ohtani this summer as Angels owner Arte Moreno isn’t going to trade him to LA. Moreover, he states that there is “around a 25% chance that Shohei Ohtani gets traded before the deadline.”

“Even if you think he can sign long-term with the Dodgers, he’s not going to be traded to the Dodgers.”

Don’t worry, anything might be possible, but it’s okay if the Dodgers do not get him this summer as Heyman believes LA has the best chances of signing him on a long-term deal during free agency.

It is no secret that Shohei Ohtani wants to join a winning side, and with a club like Los Angeles that is practically set-up for victory, this makes Ohtani the missing piece.

Of course, it is apparent that the best option for Moreno and the Angels is to get something out of the Ohtani severance package, but its not worth it for any other team in the league to make a huge offer just for the possibility of him signing elsewhere during the offseason.

Moreno doesn’t seem to be considering trading him as he wants to continue to make the fans happy, and believes that the Angels have a shot at re-signing him in the offseason.

Heyman has something to say about that as well.

“So I am not ruling out that [Moreno] can actually keep him, but I do think it is a longshot… probably a 5%-10% [the Angels] will be able to keep [Shohei Ohtani]”

Anything can happen in the baseball world, and all eyes are on Ohtani as he remains the No. 1 target on the trade block, despite the low chances.
