Still No JT, Dodgers Linked to Marcus Semien, Padres Continue Winning the Offseason & More | Blue Heaven Podcast
Another week in and another week without the return of Justin Turner to the Dodgers. The guys dig into the latest hot stove chatter and wonder aloud if the sudden resurgence of Marcus Semien to LA rumors is a way to lit a fire under the JT negotiations.
Next, we look at what the DH could mean for the Dodgers in 2021 and still this offseason after reports of Marcell Ozuna talks in free agency.

In other news, the Padres made another trade, adding to their starting rotation once again. And once again, the guys ask, is Dinelson Lamet healthy? Additionally, Cody Bellinger still isn’t swinging a bat, David Price might be signaling he’s 100% in for the 2021 season, and two Dodgers sign with enemy teams.
For roster news, we do a quick overview of the Dodgers’ international signings and recap the arbitration period.

Why are the Padres signing all of these pitchers? Does that tell us their injured pitchers are not recovering or that they have little faith in them?
Padres are certainly actively attempting to get their team on par with the Dodgers.
Have them done that? We shall see after the season is over.
If the Dodgers decide not to sign JT. I believe they will sign him. If they do not I still like Rios and Smith at 3rd with Muncy, Beaty, Taylor helping and possibly bringing up Ruiz.
If the DH looks to be in play for 2021 JT certainly becomes more attractive and the 3rd year is more a possibility. If the Dodgers do not sign JT I would go into the season with in-house players and wait to play part of the season and see how that plays out. If there is a glaring need I would rent Bryant for part of a season and consider it an audition to see if they want to extend him. That has worked well in the past Machado failed his audition Betts passed his. As Seager and Boras are going into Free Agency for 2022 you want another player in the wings as I think Seager wants to play closer to the East Coast and get a huge contract. Perhaps looking at the National, Mets or Phillies is they do not sing Realmuto.
The Dodgers signed Betts long term before he played a game. I believe what you are saying is that players should be given a chance up to the trade deadline and if they don’t perform then go after a rental.
Well at the moment anyway there appears to be holes at 2B and 3B. Who knows if JT returns or not but Kike also appears close to signing elsewhere in hopes of playing every day getting 500 AB’S. Dodgers won’t offer him those 2 things. Padres obviously traded for Snell with Dodgers in mind because they are doing everything possible in hopes of over taking Dodgers for top spot in NL West. WSS but right now Dodgers are not as formidable as last year. Honestly I can’t get too thrilled about a strict platoon at 3rd.
Does winning the off season come with a trophy? Who was the off season MVP? Until they go farther into the post season than the Dodgers it’s just something to make headlines.
True because not even a single ST game has even been played yet and in reality ST may not start on time either due to COVID.
I have been a big JT fan for several years. I admit to feeling a little disappointed in his “line in the sand” stance. I don’t profess to know the details of the negotiations but if he is holding firm for 4 years I think he’ll end up either somewhere else or unemployed. Money above loyalty. I wasn’t wired that way.
It’s in today’s world that is the business of MLB which has obviously in most cases displaced the loyalty factor. As is said, IIWII.
Sign JT for what he wants. He was an integral part of the WS Title. Keep him for the next three! Tight Ass Friedman. Let loose of some pocket change on JT and Kike’.
