David Peralta Explains Why Dodgers’ Team Culture Contributes to Consistent Success on the Field
A long time rival for the Dodgers, former Diamondbacks outfielder David Peralta signed with Los Angeles this offseason wondering just how the organization won the NL West seemingly every year.
The 36-year-old quickly grew accustomed to the culture at Chavez Ravine and such a widespread mentality through the roster has him and the rest of the team poised for yet another divisional crown this season.
“Let me tell you something, I was on the other side for long time playing against this team. I was always wondering, ‘The way they go about their business, how do they do it? What they so successful? Why do they do everything so good?’ The moment I walked into the clubhouse in spring training, you feel comfortable, and you start tapping into the culture and everything here. There’s no selfishness. Everyone is together. There’s so much energy. It’s about how are we going to work as a team to win?. You hear stories on other teams, teams with all of the talent in the world, but they have a lot of egos. They don’t like each other. And you can see it by the way they play. We’re just the opposite.‘’

Peralta is just another example of the Dodgers picking up veterans from other teams to tinker with their mechanics and provide resurgent seasons for both player and the team’s goals.
Jason Heyward this season, Tyler Anderson in 2022 and Evan Phillips since joining LA have all been among those joining Peralta in the Dodgers’ successful reclamation projects, but on-field production is only half the battle.
What’s evident by Peralta’s comments are how together the Dodgers seem to be every single year. There’s only one goal for the organization each season and that’s to be the last team standing by October’s end.
To his credit, Peralta is doing his part in such an effort. On the year, Peralta is hitting .281 with 24 extra-base hits, 45 runs batted in and an OPS of .727.
The Venezuelan international isn’t the only Dodger to notice a different feeling about this year’s roster as both Freddie Freeman and manager Dave Roberts have both commented about an unselfish nature throughout the roster making 2023 unlike any season since Roberts took over.
Currently leading the NL West once again, the Dodgers have blown any talks of a rebuilding year out of the water.
Such results have been to the benefit of those at Chavez Ravine as much as veterans such as Peralta as both parties hope this year ends in a trophy for the Boys in Blue.
