Teoscar Hernandez Reveals Why He Expects to Be Even Better for Dodgers in 2025
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernández had a standout season in his first year with the team. Hernández was named an All-Star, became the first Dodger to win the Home Run Derby, and hit a career-high 33 home runs in 2024. He also won a World Series ring.

Hernández’s stellar season with the Dodgers propelled his value in free agency. He was one of the most popular outfielders on the market, and Dodgers fans were anxious for him to return. Hernández declined the qualifying offer extended to him by the Dodgers, which was worth $21.05 million for the 2025 season.
After weeks of negotiations, the Dodgers and Hernández agreed on a three-year, $66 million deal. The return of the fan favorite should be exciting for a number of reasons, and Hernández believes he is poised for another phenomenal season.
The Dodgers announced early in the offseason Mookie Betts would be returning to the infield for the 2025 season. With Betts moving to shortstop, L.A. needed a right fielder. Hernández will take the position and he believes the position change will help him flourish.
“I feel more comfortable playing right field,” Hernández said to MLB Network. “Going back to right this year is going to be even better, I feel more comfortable. This is about how you feel, where you’re playing, where you’re hitting in the lineup, and for me I think it’s going to be better.”
Manager Dave Roberts recently announced the top of the lineup for 2025. Shohei Ohtani will lead off, followed by Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Hernández.
In 2023, Hernández logged over 1,000 defensive innings in right field for the Seattle Mariners. Hernández also played in right field when Betts fractured his hand in the middle of last season.
Though Hernández may be switching corners in the outfield for the Dodgers, he is no stranger to his new position.
