Things to Do in LA This Weekend: World Cup Fan Zones, Jazz Concert, More

There are a few cities that can lay claim to always having something to do, and Los Angeles is one of them.

As is the case every weekend, Dodgers Nation combs through events happening in the LA area for readers to possibly enjoy.

For those looking to enjoy their post-Fourth of July weekend, here are some options to consider:

Christmas in July Jazz Concert

Date: Tuesday, July 14th, 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.

At The Baked Potato Jazz Club in Studio City, the Chad Willis Jazz Orchestra will host a concert that brings Christmas feelings in the summer.

Trumpet player Chad Willis will lead a band full of musical talents, including vocalists, sax, trombone, trumpets, and someone on the keys, guitar, bass, and drums.

Music from jazz legends will be played all night long, including:

  • Ted Nash
  • David Berger

The price for the first set is $30.00, $25.00 for the second set, and $15 for patio seating, which will play a live video of the concert happening inside the jazz club.

World Cup Fan Zones

The FIFA World Cup is winding down, but there is still plenty of drama for people to consume.

On Saturday, two games will take place in the quarterfinals. England faces off against Norway in one of the most anticipated match-ups, while Lionel Messi leads Argentina against Switzerland.

In the Los Angeles County area, there will be a free community celebration at the Whittier Narrows in El Monte.

Additionally, there will be a beachfront Fan Zone in Venice Beach. This one will be ticketed, with general admission starting at $10 and VIP options as well. There will be vendors and beverage gardens.

Lost in Dreams Festival

At LA State Historic Park, there will be a two-day EDM festival called Lost in Dreams. There are all kinds of dance, trap, electronic, and bass-heavy music that will end up playing.

Tickets for Sunday start at $96 and $108 for Saturday. A two-day pass is also available.

Kat Bird Headlines The Comedy Store

On Saturday, July 11, Kat Bird will be headlining the iconic Comedy Store in West Hollywood.

She is well known in the comedy sphere, opening for major acts such as Bobby Lee, Andrew Santino, Theo Von, Marc Maron, and Iliza Shlesinger.

Bird was put on the top 100 Comedians to Watch list as well. Tickets start at $20.
