Three Cardinals Outfielders Injured Ahead of Dodgers Series

As the Dodgers prepare for their domestic opening series against the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis has been dealing with all sorts of injuries. Cardinals’ ace Sonny Gray has already been ruled out for the series with a hamstring injury, but now the team will be without three outfielders as well.

Center-fielder Dylan Carlson suffered a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder following a collision with right-fielder Jordan Walker.  He will now start the year on the injured list, adding to the list of players for St. Louis. Outfield prospect Victor Scott will take his place in center for the series against the Dodgers.

In addition, outfielders Tommy Edman and Lars Nootbaar are also on the injured list for the series against Los Angeles. Edman has been dealing with soreness in his wrist following arthroscopic surgery last season, while Nootbaar suffered a rib fracture while trying to make a catch.

It’s a tough break for the Cardinals to open the season, but it gives the Dodgers some advantage. Even early in the season, picking up wins helps their cause to have home-field in the postseason.

Having split their two-game series against the San Diego Padres in Korea, Los Angeles will be looking to pick up this opportunity in front of them. They will play four games against St. Louis this week, giving them plenty of chances to earn multiple victories.

With multiple new players on the roster, the Dodgers will have to figure things out quickly together. They enter the season with some drama surrounding the Shohei Ohtani investigation, so meaningful games should be a nice distraction for the team.

Right-hander Tyler Glasnow will get the ball in game one for Los Angeles, making his Dodger Stadium debut. Second-year starter Bobby Miller goes in game two, rookie Yoshinobu Yamamoto in game three and Gavin Stone in game four.
