Tweets Of The Night: Eighth Inning Home Run Leads To 3-2 Dodger Loss
The Dodgers weren’t able to ruin Barry Zito’s farewell game last night and lost to the San Francisco Giants 6-4. Ricky Nolasco once again struggled on the mound, giving up six earned runs in 5.2 innings.
Tonight, the Dodgers returned to AT&T Park for the final game between these two rivals this season. On the hill for the Dodgers was Edinson Volquez, in his last audition for a playoff roster spot. Volquez came into tonight’s game with a 9-12 record and a 5.77 ERA. Volquez’ last start against his former team was impressive as he gave up only one earned run in 6.1 innings.
Once again, another Giants pitcher had an opportunity to grab a win tonight, in what could be his last game in a Giants uniform. Tim Lincecum will be a free agent at season’s end and more than likely will not return to the Giants. Lincecum has never returned to form after his signing his 40.5 million dollar contract two years ago.
The Dodgerss regular starting lineup returned tonight, with the lone exception being the catcher A.J. Eliis as Tim Federowicz started in his place.
Let’s get to the tweets of the night.
