VIDEO: Dodgers’ Yasiel Puig Licks His Bat And Instantly Regrets IT

Have you ever done something that seemed like a good idea at the time, only to realize that you shouldn’t have done it? Maybe it was out of emotion. Maybe it was out of stupidity. Regardless, it resulted in a moment of reflection that caused you to think, “Why did I just do that?”

Yasiel Puig had one of those moments on Friday and it’s absolutely hilarious. In the bottom of the first inning, Yasiel Puig smoked a double that scored Cody Bellinger. During the at-bat, he fouled off a pitch and decided to lick his bat afterwards. His reaction to the taste in his mouth is gold.

Why did he lick his bat? Like the age-old question, “How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop,” the world may never know. However, that didn’t stop reporters from asking him when the game was over!

Joshua Thornton of MLB.com tweeted out a quote from Puig explaining the method to his madness. Here is what he had to say:

If licking pin tar-covered bats results in hitting doubles, then I 100% support it! Yasiel Puig had a great night at the plate on Friday, going 2-5 with a double, triple, and two runs batted in. It was a great night for the Dodgers’ offense in general. In just one inning, Los Angeles put up four runs on four hits against Taijuan Walker and drove him out of the game.

Then Zack Godley came in as a long reliever and the Dodgers scored three runs against him over five innings. David Hernandez is the only Arizona pitcher to come out of the game without giving up a run because the Dodgers scored one run off of Andrew Chafin and one run off of Jimmie Sherfy.

Overall, Friday night was a good night to be a Dodgers fan. Not only did they win, but Yasiel Puig reminded everybody why he’s one of the best players to watch in the game! Keep on licking your bat, Yasiel! We here at Dodgers Nation support the movement.
