Watch Dodgers Rookie Arrive to His Major League Debut in a Rolls Royce
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Landon Knack rolled up to make his major league debut in style.
Wednesday, he arrived at Dodger Stadium as few could ever dream: in a Rolls Royce. Knack was finally called up to the major leagues after an injury to pitcher Bobby Miller, and made his first start against the Washington Nationals.
A player’s major league debut is always a special moment. Knack not only got to pull up to his debut in a Rolls Royce, but have the sentimental moment recorded. During the ride, Knack recalled his Triple-A manager calling him and his fiancé to fly out for the debut days earlier.
He also recalled the lengthy journey to get to this point. After receiving no offers out of high school, Knack went to play third base at junior college where he found time to get pitching in. He’d transfer to East Tennessee State College to continue pitching. After not getting selected in the 2019 MLB Draft, Knack made it his mission to improve, and ended up getting selected in the second round by the Dodgers in 2020. Four years later, Knack finally made his debut in front of his family at Dodger Stadium.
Knack got off to a bumpy start in his debut, allowing two earned runs during the first inning. He settled down nicely for the next four innings, allowing no more runs. Overall, Knack pitched five innings and notched four strikeouts while allowing the two runs, four hits and one walk. Unfortunately, the Dodgers’ offense could not support his efforts in a 2-0 loss.
Knack will get his next start on the Dodgers’ upcoming road trip.
