Watch Dodgers Superstar Mookie Betts Work at Second Base for Team USA

Mookie Betts is one of the many big name players participating in the World Baseball Classic, which begins Tuesday night. Team USA is loaded with talent, and Betts is among the players trying to defend the crown for America.

With such a stacked roster, Betts, who is a six-time Gold Glove Award winner in right field, is actually going to be in somewhat of a utility role. He’s likely to play both in right field and at second base, which will be good practice for this upcoming season with the Dodgers.

Betts is likely to get some work at second base this season with LA, so the WBC will be a great first look at Betts playing meaningful games at the position. And MLB Network’s Jon Morosi gave fans a first glimpse of Betts turning a double play with his new USA squad in practice.

It’s pretty amazing how Betts looks just as good in the infield as he does in the outfield, where he’s turned into one of the best defenders in all of baseball. And knowing him, if he were to move to second base full-time, he’d probably win a Gold Glove there, too.

We already saw him make a slick play at second base during a Cactus League game, and expect to see a lot more of those before this season is over.

But for now, he’s going to be working both in the infield and outfield for Team USA, whose first real game is Saturday, March 11 against Great Britain at Chase Field in Arizona. However, they have exhibition games both on Wednesday, March 8 and Thursday, March 9.
