Who’s Going to Replace Tyler Glasnow in Dodgers Rotation?

The Los Angeles Dodgers have unfortunately added Tyler Glasnow to the injured list with shoulder inflammation.

After he left consecutive starts due to injury — with his most recent outing on Sunday lasting just one inning because of shoulder discomfort — the All-Star will be shelved for the time being. The next steps for the team will now be figuring out who will take his place in the now vacant starting spot.

In his absence, there are a few potential candidates the team can move forward with.

Luckily, fellow All-Star right-hander Tony Gonsolin is in line to return after 20 months away from the team this week, but he is likely going to fill the Blake Snell-sized hole in the rotation rather than be a Glasnow replacement.

The first option to replace Glasnow is a familiar one in the pitching talents of Ben Casparius.

Of his 11 appearances this season, 10 have been in relief. There was talk of stretching out the right-hander to a starting spot after he pitched 3.2 solid innings for L.A. following Glasnow’s injury Sunday.

“It’s a thought,” manager Dave Roberts said.

Another potential option is Landon Knack, who would be eligible to return to the team on May 2 since he was last optioned on April 16.

The right-hander has made three appearances for the Dodgers this season, two of which have been starts. The pair of starts were forgettable at best as he allowed seven runs, eight hits, and six walks in that time, but he is posting a 3.38 ERA across three Triple-A appearances this year.

Another arm who could try to replace the All-Star is southpaw Justin Wrobleski. His sole start for the Dodgers featured eight earned runs across five innings.

In Triple-A, Wrobleski is sporting a 5.71 ERA over his four starts, and if given an opportunity to prove himself once again in the majors, will do everything he can for fans to forget his only start of 2025.

On the topic of young pitchers with a lot to prove, Bobby Miller may be at the top of that list.

After going 11-4 in his rookie season, Miller struggled the following year with command issues and frequent trips from Oklahoma City and L.A.

With 2025 as a great opportunity for a comeback, Miller was unlucky in his only start of the year, allowing six runs, eight hits, and a walk in his three-frame outing. The right-hander did show signs of his old self with seven strikeouts, but it wasn’t enough as he returned to Triple-A after his performance.

In four appearances in Oklahoma City, Miller is posting a 2.65 ERA with a 1-1 record. Especially after taking a line-drive to the head in the first Cactus League game of spring, Miller has been yearning for a return to big league success.
