Will Dodgers Get Shohei Ohtani? Free Agency Factors, Plus Roki Sasaki Talk with MLB Analyst

One of the biggest storylines of the MLB’s 2023 season is the thing that’s coming after it — Shohei Ohtani’s free agency. At the end of this season, the incredible two-way superstar will be a free agent, and will be available to sign with any team for just about any amount of money he wants.

Way ahead of his free agency, and on the cusp of the MLB’s 2023 season after Ohtani’s performance in the World Baseball, our very own Doug McKain caught up with former MLB player and current Dodgers analyst Jose Mota. McKain spoke with Mota about Ohtani’s impeding free agency, and what he saw from him as he broadcasted Japan’s games in the WBC.

After the Ohtani talk, the two also spoke about rising Japanese star Roki Sasaki. The 21-year-old is a rising baseball star, and showed why in the WBC.

Sasaki’s fastball averages triple digits with a ton of movement, and it translates to dominance on the field. In the Japan Pacific League last season, Sasaki had an impressive 2.02 ERA in 129.1 innings at the young age of 20 years old.

Sasaki is going to be a future star in the MLB, and is definitely someone the Dodgers and just about everyone else is keeping an eye on.

McKain and Mota have a great conversation about Ohtani, Sasaki and more, so make sure to watch the full video to hear it all. You can watch it at the top of the article, or with this link right here.
