Yankees Pitcher Praises Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani But Says ‘Anyone is Pitchable’

New York Yankees pitcher Carlos Rodón heaped high praise for Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani, but with one caveat.

“He’s a good hitter, but anybody is pitchable,” Rodón said, via MLB.com.

Rodón is speaking from experience as the Dodgers traveled to the Bronx to face the Yankees in a highly-touted series in June.

The New York pitching staff, for the most part, managed to contain Ohtani. He went 2-for-13 with four runs scored, an RBI, and a walk in the series.

Although Ohtani didn’t play his best, the Dodgers won the best-of-three series in the summer. It is important to note that the Yankees played without Juan Soto in the summer matchup because of left forearm inflammation.

Nevertheless, Rodón still spoke highly of Ohtani ahead of the World Series matchup with the Dodgers.

“I’m going to give him his credit,” Rodón said. “He’s a great hitter, he’s got tremendous power, he sees the ball well. He can drive the ball out of any ballpark. He can probably hit it out of any stadium — like, out of the stadium, not just over the fence.”

Getting to face Ohtani is a treat for the Yankees left-hander who is determined to beat the best in the Fall Classic.

“It’s going to be fun,” Rodón said. “It’s a treat. You get to this point, those are the kinds of guys you want to face.”

The World Series kicks off Friday evening at Dodger Stadium and there will be no shortage of stars. It’s Jack Flaherty versus Gerrit Cole. Ohtani versus Aaron Judge. Mookie Betts versus Soto. Freddie Freeman versus Giancarlo Stanton. West coast versus east coast. And so much more.

It’s the series everybody wanted, but only one team will get the ring.
