Yoshinobu Yamamoto Praises Atmosphere of Dodgers Team

The Los Angeles Dodgers’ addition of starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto made waves throughout baseball. He has generally been seen as the best pitcher to come over from Japan, giving Los Angeles another potential ace of the future.

Yamamoto looked good in his Spring Training debut, fueling the fire even more for his success this year. The rookie threw two scoreless innings against the Texas Rangers, looking very confident on the mound.

He chose the Dodgers during his free agent process because he felt comfortable around the team, something that has helped his transition over to the United States. So far, it seems that he made the right call. Yamamoto spoke about the clubhouse atmosphere being very good during his time with the team already.

“The atmosphere on the team is really good,” Yamamoto said in Japanese. “I’m in my first year and everyone is supporting me so that I can integrate into the team. Everyone has been very nice and because of that, I’m able to relax, starting in practice. I think that’s the best part right now.”

Having someone like Shohei Ohtani around likely helps as well. Both players speak the same language and have already proven they’re great friends.

His teammates have marveled at his skill set, and they’ve done what they can to best support him. Everyone wants to see him succeed at the highest level, and it’s a strong collection of support for Yamamoto.

He is scheduled to make his next start on Wednesday of next week, where we will get to see what else he can do. But so far, so good for the right-hander, as he navigates his first Spring Training with Los Angeles and in the big leagues.
