Dodgers Infielder Clears Waivers, Remains In Organization

The Dodgers designated Andre Lipcius for assignment last week, but he will remain in the organization. He has cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Triple-A. He is expected to join the team on the road for their upcoming opening series in Tacoma.

Lipcius was acquired from the Detroit Tigers earlier in the offseason for cash considerations and was expected to provide some depth to the team. He will be given a chance to show what he can do in the minors, potentially to be called up later in the season.

He put together a decent spring, hitting .250 with two runs batted in over 12 at-bats. Los Angeles liked his potential in the infield, but the roster is already stacked.

Lipcius was originally a third-round pick of the Tigers in 2019 out of Tennesee. He made his MLB debut last season with Detroit, hitting .286 with one home run and four runs batted in over 13 games.

The right-handed hitting infielder is only 25 years old so there is plenty of time for him to continue growing his game. The Dodgers have been good at helping young players develop, so maybe Lipcius will be the next success story.
