Aaron Judge Rumors: Dodgers Have Huge Hurdle to Climb for AL MVP

The talk of Aaron Judge coming to Los Angeles has been circulating for quite a few weeks now without any dramatic announcement. So, is the possibility dead, or just something that is still trying to get sorted out between both parties?

As of lately, it’s not looking too good for the Dodgers to pick up the superstar outfielder.

As the amount of teams interested in Judge continues to grow, The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal shares that the AL MVP is in search of a club that can sign him to a long-term deal.

“The way the free-agent market for Aaron Judge is developing, it appears increasingly likely the winning bid will be for nine guaranteed years, sources involved in the negotiations say.”

But the Dodgers don’t seem all that interested in the long game.

“The Dodgers are believed to want Judge only on a short-term, high-dollar deal.”

Although the Dodgers tried this same approach with Bryce Harper before the 2019 season, it didn’t work then and it doesn’t look likely that Judge will bite at their offer either.

A few years back, Harper was reportedly offered a four-year, $180 million contract, which would have given him the highest paid salary. Clearly, that didn’t lure him to Los Angeles and the Phillies ended up with the superstar outfielder for 13 years.

The Dodgers are trying the same approach with Judge in hopes of filling out the outfield hole now that Bellinger seems to be out the door. And with Trea Turner most likely to sin elsewhere, the team could use one more All-Star in their lineup with Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman.

So now headed into the winter meetings down in San Diego, it seems like the possibility of getting Aaron Judge is in fact dying. But now the question is, who will the Dodgers go after now?

They still have to fill the hole in the shortstop position and tune up their pitching rotation after the departure of Anderson and possibly Heaney as well as Walker Buehler’s unlikely return until late fall.

  1. Same approach and expecting a different result Sounds like the Dodgers since Fraudman hired Dr Deuchebag.

  2. You have to step up to be the best and Fraudman is not cutting it. Roberts has been handed the most talent and has done the least possible with it!!

  3. HOW MANY SUPERSTARS HAVEBEEN SIGNED TO BIG CONTRACTS AND NOT GOTTEN A RING ????? # 1 BARRY BONDS, WITH THE GIANTS, #2 ICHIRO, A-ROD, AND RANDY JOHNSON WITH SEATTLE, OHTANI AND MIKE TROUT, TO NAME A FEW. INJURIES CAN KILL A ONE MAN TEAM. JUST MY OPINION.
