Chicago Cubs Could Be Dodgers’ Biggest Barrier To Bryce Harper

All offseason, the Dodgers have been synonymously linked with Bryce Harper in free agency. Recently, they were described as being ‘on the 10-yard line’ close to signing Harper by Michael Duarte of NBC Sports.

However, Jon Heyman of Fanrag sports was on MLB Network to tell us that the Chicago Cubs are very much alive in this.

Heyman divulged that the Cubs may even be more likely than the Dodgers to sign the prized free agent.

At this point it might be more likely that it would be the Cubs that would look at Harper. Right now the Dodgers are still looking at other pieces such as (J.T.) Realmuto and (Corey) Kluber.

Moreover, Heyman added that if the Cubs were to do something like move Jason Heyward; that is a signal worth watching. The Cubs opening up a spot for Harper – much like the Dodgers did when they traded Matt Kemp and Yasiel Puig.

Heyman goes on to reiterate that at this point, he’s leaning Cubs more than Dodgers as the team to sign harper. Still, he did not give further reasoning for feeling this way if you watch the video above.

Harperwatch 2019 will continue to roll onward. With each day comes seemingly a new twist and turn. The plot will probably thicken a few more times again before there is resolve.

Hang in there and enjoy the ride. The Dodgers have a great team without Harper and to land him would simply be icing on a nice cake.

  1. I would call the Cubs one of my least favorite teams in the sport, but this might be the only time i’m rooting for them. Cubs PLEASE sign Harper!

    1. Ryan, it’s bc you’re a total douche bag and probably played kick ball in gym class and that’s it. Please cubs do sign him so we have 200 home runs from 5 guys you ass clown.

      1. Please Cubs do sign him so we have 200 home runs from 5 guys. Please explain because you sound like the clown.

      2. I don’t really have an issue should either Dodgers or Cubs sign Harper. My issue is more of a need for an impact RH bat or else we will be buried in 2019 by all those LHP we will see almost daily!

  2. Harper is so overrated selfish and has never been a team player. I really REALLY HOPE THE CUBS SIGN HIM. WE NEED A SOLID SECOND BASEMAN. HE’S NOT WORTH THE MONEY. I HAVE BEEN A DODGER’S FAN SENSE 1974. I’M MORE INTO THE TEAM LOOKING TO GET SOME STABILITY AND GET THE WORLD SERRIES RING THAN GIVE SCOTT BORAS TGE HUGE PAYDAY. HE’S A MASTER OF MINULATION AND US SALAVATING AND LEAKING THE RUMOR OF THE GARBAGE.

  3. The best rh bat that’s available is Realmuto, and we need a catcher. That makes more sense than wasting money on overhyped Harper. Another pitcher, Like Kluber, is icing on the cake, and would make Dodgers alot stronger. Those 2 moves dont cost much, because they’re trades,so Dodgers could still get Pollock. Then lineup would be;
    Taylor
    Seager
    JT
    Pollock
    Realmuto
    Bellinger
    Muncy/Freese
    Verdugo
    Pitching would be;
    Kershaw
    Kluber
    Buehler
    Ryu
    Hill

    All this w only signing one free agent, still under luxury tax, and purge a couple more expendable players and prospects.

    1. Sign Harper make the trade 4 kluber don’t give a damn thing 2 Jeter 4 the catcher we don’t need give Ruiz a shot at catching then u sign lemahue for 2nd & u use muncy & what other prospect u need & u go get Abreu in trade so then u have a Abreu @ 1st lamahue @ 2nd Cory @ ss Turner @ 3rd & outfield of Peterson bellinger & Harper with platoon of Ruiz & barns behind the plate & top 3 pitchers being Kershaw buehler and kluber to me that = the title we all been waiting 4!

  4. f you’re here to criticize other people who are posting, go back to your old web page. It’s obvious there is some history from another site.
