Dave Roberts, Tommy Edman Provide Update on Dodgers Star’s Ankle Injury

The Los Angeles Dodgers were without Tommy Edman in the starting lineup Wednesday during their 12-7 win over the Miami Marlins.

After not starting Monday’s game — despite eventually entering the game as a pinch-hitter and even hitting a walk-off single — and the Dodgers’ upcoming off day Thursday, it was concerning that Edman was once again out of the lineup.

Edman said after the game Wednesday that his right ankle is fine despite him “tweaking it” the night prior, per Dodgers insider Dave Vassegh.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts called Edman day-to-day.

“He said he felt much better today,” Roberts said. “If he’s not in there Friday, certainly he’ll be in there Saturday.”

The skipper seems confident that the utility star will get back to the lineup soon, and at the very least, by the second game in the club’s next series against the Atlanta Braves.

The Dodgers responded to a three-game losing skid this month with five wins in a row as they head to Atlanta.

Edman was present for four of those wins and totaled five RBIs, three hits, and a stolen base to help his team get back into the win column in a major way.

Edman made his way to the Dodgers at the 2024 trade deadline and has easily been one of the most productive players on the roster.

In 37 games last season, Edman batted .237 with an OPS of .711, adding six homers and 20 RBIs.

He took things to another level in October as he hit .328 with a pair of home runs, 13 RBIs, and five stolen bases as he earned NLCS MVP honors on the way to helping the Dodgers lift World Series trophy No. 8.

For now, fans will hope that Edman’s ankle heals on the scheduled day off Thursday and he is ready to go in Atlanta. Both Edman and his skipper seem to be confident that he will be back in the lineup sooner rather than later.
