Dodgers Analyst Jose Mota Compares Rookie Bobby Miller to Clayton Kershaw, Julio Urias

One of the biggest strengths that the Los Angeles Dodgers organization has is their ability to find gems in the MLB Draft. It has helped them keep their winning ways going, all the while they spend money at a high rate.

LA has hit majorly in the pitching department over the years, providing multiple top-tier MLB pitchers. They just have an eye for pitching prospects, and it has been impressive to watch.

Some that come to mind of late are Clayton Kershaw and Julio Urias. The team does have a loaded farm system of pitchers currently, as well as some really good ones that have already made an impact in the big leagues.

One of those happens to be rookie Bobby Miller, who has come in this season and impressed everyone. He made his debut back in May against the Atlanta Braves and has shown a strong ability to get better from each start.

Recently Spectrum SportsNet LA insider Jose Mota spoke with our very own Doug McKain about Miller and gave his thoughts on the young right-hander. You can listen to the entire conversation here!

“There’s nothing this guy needs in order to go out there and win games. He takes the mound like Clayton Kershaw and Urias. They don’t go out there to give you a quality start. He goes out there to give you a win. And if it takes five innings, six or seven, he’s ready.”

Miller looks like the real deal, and the Dodgers are extremely high on his upside long-term. It’s hard to argue with Mota on this one because Miller has been one of the better pitchers on the team this season.

He helped stabilize their rotation throughout the season and now is one of the more relied-upon guys on the staff. The rookie is learning a lot about what it takes to pitch in the big leagues over the course of a long season and that should only help him going forward.

As Mota said, the strikeouts will come for the young pitcher. He has great stuff on the mound, but his only focus should be continuing to find new ways to get better each time out and helping the team win games.
