Dodgers Break All-Time Record For Most Homeruns in a Month

The Dodgers have no shortage of power in their lineup, especially with the added DH in 2020. Los Angeles just broke the record for the most homeruns in a single month in the National League on Sunday afternoon.

Cody Bellinger took a pitch from Kyle Gibson deep to right for the Dodgers third homerun of the game in the 3rd inning. That was also the Dodgers 57th homerun of the month of August, surpassing the 2019 Braves month of June

Two former MVP winners have been a big part of setting that record. Mookie Betts and Cody Bellinger both homered ten times in the month of August alone. Max Muncy added to that as well with six of his own. All told, six guys on the roster have five homeruns or more for the month.

The record is a little bit diluted in that homeruns have been on the rise for a while now. In fact, the three top teams for homeruns in a single month have all come within the last three years. Rehardless, it’s a record that Dodgers fans can be proud of.

  1. But the hitters are striking out WAY too much for my liking and when they face better pitching in the PS we will see a repeat result of the 2019 NLDS where Dodger hitters struck out 64 times in 5 games.
