Dodgers: COVID-19 Outbreak With the Rockies Leads to Roster Moves
The Dodgers and Rockies are set to kick off a 3-game series tonight in Colorado. But the game will not come without its complications as the 2 teams open the second half of the season. A COVID-19 outbreak in the Rockies’ camp is making things a little difficult.
Because of the outbreak, the Rockies have been forced to change things up against the Dodgers. This comes as the Yankees also had an outbreak that delayed their Thursday game following the All-Star break. Colorado will start RHP Chi Chi Gonzalez as a result.
Here are the Rockies’ roster moves ahead of Friday’s game:
- Manager Bud Black out Friday night
- RHP Antonio Senzatela will not start Friday
- RHP Yency Almonte to the COVID IL
- RHP Jhoulys Chacin to the COVID IL
- OF Yonathan Diaz to the COVID IL
- OF Sam Hillard called up
- RHP Antonio Santos called up
- LHP Zac Rosscup called up
- LHP Ben Bowden called up
The moves aren’t overly drastic and they don’t change too much for the Dodgers. But the lingering fear of an outbreak is certainly there, and Los Angeles players will certainly be cautious. The last thing this team needs right now is a COVID outbreak slowing them down.

The biggest difference is that the Dodgers might end up facing German Marquez as a result of the outbreak. As the best pitcher in Colorado’s rotation, that works against them a little. All that matters now is getting out of Denver with a clean bill of health.
