Dodgers: Craig Kimbrel Tried to Rescue the Team After a Flat Tire
Craig Kimbrel is very familiar with saving things. The Dodgers closer has locked down plenty of saves across his very good big league career, including another on Friday night in Philadelphia. But this trip to Philly also presented another opportunity for him to come to the rescue again.
When the Dodgers team bus headed to the stadium on Friday, they had a tire blowout. That apparently led to Kimbrel saying he could change it when Dave Roberts asked if anyone could change the tire.
He did not change the tire though, which is probably for the best. But Doc made sure to note that he is very capable of doing so, just in case Dodgers fans were wondering. (quotes via The OC Register)
“He did not. But from what I gather from talking to him, he has that ability. I know he can change a car tire. But a dual-axel bus tire? I don’t know. …It was a quick turnaround. We were delayed probably 20 minutes,” Roberts said. “It was pretty easy. I guess it could have been a lot worse.”
Some of the Dodgers personnel were delayed but ultimately made it out to the game with no trouble. They would go on to take game one of the series 4-1 behind a stellar outing from Julio Urias. Up next, they will send out Mitch White to pitch in a bullpen game.
