Dodgers’ Dave Roberts Provides Latest Update on Blake Snell’s Injury, Return Timeline
The Los Angeles Dodgers have been without many pitchers this season. There are already 12 on the injured list, and it’s only the end of April.
One in particular, who is not just a $182 million offseason addition, but has two Cy Young awards to his name, is Blake Snell. After experiencing shoulder inflammation resulting in a trip to the injured list, Snell has been out of commission for most of the month.

Manager Dave Roberts provided a positive update to the All-Star southpaw after his throwing program was shut down this week.
“He had an MRI [Friday] morning and there are no new findings,” Roberts said. “So at some point, I think he will get an injection to kind of calm it down and they will figure out when we pick up the throwing program. But given the findings of the MRI, we dodged a bullet.”
Snell last touched the mound April 2 against the Detroit Tigers and was originally placed on the IL after that start. Although the skipper couldn’t provide an exact timeline, he seemed confident that the two-time Cy Young award winner wouldn’t be missing long term.
“I don’t know the extent of the length of time, but just knowing that there is no damage is certainly a big relief,” Roberts said.
Help appears to be on the way for L.A. as Clayton Kershaw and Tony Gonsolin are looking promising at the beginning of their Triple-A rehab assignments.
Additionally, Shohei Ohtani has been trending towards a return to the mound this season, but the team has been clear about not rushing back the two-way star.
Although Snell still has no timeline, the lack of structural damage and the talent waiting in the wings to return appear to be the best-case scenario given the circumstances.
