Dodgers Fans React to Kiké Hernández Returning to Los Angeles

With a week out until the MLB trade deadline, the Dodgers wasted no time addressing one of their biggest problems. LA acquired utilityman Kiké Hernandez from the Boston Red Sox, bringing him back to LA just a few years after he left for Boston.

It had been rumored that the Dodgers were interested in bringing Hernandez back over the last few days. The team has a need for right-handed hitting, and Hernandez can provide them with a ton of flexibility in how they construct their lineups.

Hernandez was a fan favorite during his time in LA, so when the news was announced, Dodger fans let their feelings be known.

However, not everyone is feeling the love for the Dodgers bringing Hernandez back. Former Dodger and current member of the Red Sox, Justin Turner took to Twitter once news broke about the trade.

He likely doesn’t want to see his friend leave, but he also may be experiencing some FOMO. Turner left LA this past offseason after the front office decided it was time to upgrade the roster. He never wanted to leave the Dodgers, but it just wasn’t in the cards for him to return.

In the deal for Hernandez, LA is sending over two higher-level minor-league relievers.

With Hernandez returning, the Dodgers will likely use him in different spots throughout the field. He has primarily played shortstop for Boston this season, but he has played all over the infield and outfield in the past.

LA is likely to make some other moves prior to the deadline, but this is a good start. They get someone familiar with their system and a guy who can play multiple positions.
