Dodgers Fans React to New Pitch Clock Rules

Although they’re just Spring Training games right now, this weekend officially kicked off the 2023 baseball season. And with the start of the new year, the new MLB changes are officially in place. These include larger bases, a restriction on the shift in the infield, and the pitch clock, which has been a hot topic already around baseball.

With the new rules finally in motion, the official game time for the Dodgers’ first spring training game was just 2 hours and 21 minutes. Game two came in at 2:54, but that was a slugfest that saw LA explode for 9 runs over the Cubs.

After the first game, we asked LA fans what they think about the new changes to the beloved game of baseball. The general consensus? People are not big fans of the new rules.

Here’s a sneak peek into the behind-the-scenes action that goes into implementing just one of the new rules: the pitch timer.

  1. I hate it, i watched the game on Saturday and all I did was watch the clock. I think it’s ridiculous. The players union should have never aload it. It takes the fun out of being at a game. There won’t be time for players walk up music which is something fun to watch. Players won’t be able to do their secret hand shakes after a HR because there’s no time. I think it will only last one year. Especially when owners see it affect their wallets. Fans will spend less money at the ballpark.

  2. The pitch rule is just about as stupid as starting a runner on second base in extra innings. I do not a baseball game rushed!!!

  3. The clock is the dumbest idea I have heard in a very long time and I’ve heard some doozy’s.

Why speed up the pitcher like that? I have a feeling more pitchers are going to get hit by pitches and with that comes the possibility of more injuries…I mean I hope to goodness I’m wrong but you do the math.. don’t give the guy throwing the ball 90mph or faster toward a batter time to think and see what transpires…

I think the clock needs to go. Keep the game the way it’s been since forever and let them play the game they love…
