Dodgers Fans React To News Of Shohei Ohtani’s Contract Deferrals

When the news came out about how Shohei Ohtani’s contract with the Dodgers was structured, there were many different types of reactions.

Ohtani agreed to defer all but $2 million of his annual salary each season. This means that $68 million of the normal $70 million per year will be paid out after the contract runs out.

This type of move is unprecedented and shows that Ohtani wants to win first and foremost. He knows that he will get the money back each year through endorsements and advertisements, so he isn’t worried.

But the biggest positive from a decision like this is the added flexibility within the Dodgers’ spending each season. They will now have more money to use to bolster the team around Ohtani.

Of course, Dodgers fans were ecstatic, and Ohtani has risen to the top of their favorite player lists already. Here are some reactions from fans.

However, while L.A. fans were in an excited state of disbelief, other fan bases around the league weren’t as thrilled. The idea that the Dodgers could sign Ohtani and still have spending money angered many people.

L.A. can now make multiple other moves to help build the best possible team around Ohtani. The front office is under pressure to continue making this team better each season, so the real winner, other than Ohtani, is the fans.

Ohtani is already making his mark as a member of the Dodgers and he hasn’t even suited up yet. It’s truly Sho time, L.A.
