Dodgers Fans Sound Off On Dave Roberts, Front Office, Bullpen and More | DN Approval Ratings

We are about an eighth of the way through the 2023 season. The Dodgers are not their usual dominant selves, and it definitely hasn’t been as fun for the fans (obviously).

However, we have a long season ahead of us, so there’s more than enough time for the Dodgers to get back on track and start figuring things out. But, there may need to be some changes.

At this early point in the season, we decided to poll our followers on Twitter, and ask for their approval ratings on the different aspects of the Dodgers early in the season. The poll that had the most voters was regarding manager Dave Roberts (of course), and fans had a lot to say.

Of the 2,293 fans who voted, 75.8 percent of them said they do not approve of the job Dave Roberts has done thus far.

Here are a few of the responses:

He’s even losing the support of one longtime fan:

However, there are still 24.2 percent of fans who did approve. Here are some of their responses:

This fan deflected the criticism elsewhere — and is a perfect transition to the next topic:

The next highest-voted on poll asked fans if they approved of the job the Dodgers front office has done this season and offseason. A whopping 85 percent of the 1,376 fans said no.

Here were some of those responses:

Of the 15 percent that approved of the job:

Now that leads us to the on-the-field issues. We ran three polls asking fans if they approve of the bullpen, offense and starting pitching. Let’s start with the bullpen, where an incredible 94.6 percent of fans don’t approve, which makes sense considering they’re one of the worst in all of baseball thus far.

A pretty high 76.9 percent of fans don’t approve of the Dodgers’ offense at this point in the season — and it’s been inconsistent especially with all the injuries.

And finally — our closest poll — 54.3 percent of fans don’t approve of the starting pitching, while 45.7 percent of fans do.

We’re likely to run similar polls later into the season to see how things change. But for now, Dodger fans seem very unhappy with just about every aspect of the team.

  1. I approve of Doc’s decisions to try Mookie at short and play James Outman as much as possible. I don’t think he knows how to manage a pitching staff or honestly inform fans of the severity of injuries. The decision to rest Muncy in S.F. was pretty inept as well. I like that he gave Andre Jackson a chance to redeem himself; he deserves it. A true test of Dave’s managerial skills will be pulling Vargas and Taylor out of their downward spirals.
We shouldn’t blame the manager for not resigning Anderson or signing Rojas for two years or trying to get under the luxury tax threshold when they didn’t have the money info they needed on Bauer. It’s really pretty early to grouse when we have the injuries we have and still have trade opportunities ahead. Twenty one games is barely enough for the front office to figure out what needs to be fixed and what doesn’t. However, it is clear some things need doing.

  2. LMAO… to little to late.. where were all these “FANS” last two years?? I beem saying to dump Roberts.. he agrees with everything mamagement goes.. and most waht they do is not for good of fsn.. and seems no can see this

  3. Just wait until the fans at Dodger Stadium start booing the home team.

Dave Robert’s doesn’t have much to work with this year, with key injuries and a bullpen that has crumbled. In years past, he was given many good players and that made his job easier, in spite of his many poor decisions.

  4. He’s a terrible manager and has been from day one. But this won’t get printed as I have bad mouthed the “DOC”.

  5. We are soooo mad we are spending 25% more than anyone else and not on a 120 win pace.

Joke fanbase full of entitled fans and tik tok influencers.
