Dodgers Fans Will Love Andrew Friedman’s Comments Regarding Kiké Hernández Return
The Los Angeles Dodgers have no shortage of talent on the roster, but many fans are still waiting for utility man Kiké Hernández to return. Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman commented on the potential of a reunion with the fan favorite.
“The door will never be closed on Kiké,” Friedman said at Fan Fest Saturday.
Friedman’s remarks certainly bode well for Hernández’s chances of returning to L.A. next season. It was recently reported the New York Yankees inquired about the Dodgers free agent, but Hernández in pinstripes seems unlikely.
Hernández has been candid about desire to return to L.A. throughout his free agency process, so his preferred destination is no secret. The fan favorite also sent a heartfelt message to everyone who has supported him throughout his two stints with the Dodgers.
“From the moment I got to L.A., it was a humbling experience for me to have a fanbase that embraces me and loves me the way that they do,” he said via The Shop. “The support. I’m a guy that I’m probably a better player than what the back of my card says numbers-wise. I bring more to the table than my stats, and the way that they love me, you’d think that I am the best player on the field each and every day I step on a baseball field.”
Once Gavin Lux was traded to the Cincinnati Reds, there appeared to be room for Hernández to return. However, the Dodgers then signed reliever Kirby Yates which has filled the 40-man roster.
Nevertheless, there’s still time for Hernández to make a return and Friedman’s comments should give fans confidence about the utility man’s chances of signing with the Dodgers this winter.

I’m not holdin’ my breath. Kike seems like a great guy, a decent player who can play anywhere, except perhaps catch, great in the clutch, but with mediocre numbers. I’d love to see him back, but I doubt it. I’d be very surprised. Now come trade deadline, anything could happen, but he’s not going to start the season in Dodger Blue.
That’s a ” no ” I’m afraid. Unless a minor league deal, late spring training deal if CT3 sucks and is goner, or an injury here real soon.
Keep Kike. Get rid of Taylor for a can of tuna. He’s. Absolutely USELESS
This isn’t 5 yrs ago
Cut bait now
They both bring a lot to the table, but Kike just brings a little bit more..
Kike is a “Baseball Player!”
Kike has the heart of a Dodger. I have bled Dodger Blue for over 75 years and so I know one when I see one. Find a way to keep him
Kike’s versatility and hustle brings a special energy to the team.and the fans. Like in Dodger blue is a must.
Kike’s versatility and hustle brings something special to the team and the fans. Kike in Dodger blue is a must.
Please keep Kike. He brings so much to the Dodgers. He is such an everyday Dodger. He just wouldn’t look right with another team.
Dodgers are a heavy favorite in the 162 game regular season with or without Kike; but to win a short 3,5 or 7 game postseason series against tough opponents, you need clutch players. Kike has proven time and time again that he is a clutch postseason player. Hope the Dodger FO does not drop the ball here.
Let’s see. Kiki wants to come back. Friedman and Gomez say the Dodgers want him back. The fans want him back.
Then why isn’t he under contract right now. The team players report in less than a week.
Some where, some how, there seems to be someone laying some BS in print. And that print ain’t on any contract
