Dodgers Fans Will Love Dave Roberts’ Comments on Andy Pages’ Immediate Future in LA

Exactly 11 months after Andy Pages underwent shoulder surgery, he was called up to the big leagues and made his major league debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Outside of Teoscar Hernandez, the Dodgers outfield has had little offensive production. Pages has breathed life and lifted the bottom third of the Dodgers lineup out of the cellar through his eight games in a Dodgers uniform. He’s also impressed manager Dave Roberts.

“Very impressed with Andy,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. “I think one of the things that we bet on (with) Andy was the head, that he wasn’t going to be overwhelmed being here. Certainly, he’s not. Sure, there have been some struggles, striking out at times. He just didn’t panic.

“I think it’s something that we all believed in Andy. But you have to see it to validate it and justify it as far as at this level. But it’s not surprising, I don’t think, (to) anyone in this organization or any of us that have been around him. He just has that hit tool that I talk about. It’s not a one-piece swing. He’s a hitter first with some power behind it. I like it.”

He has seen time in right field and center field filling in for the injured Jason Heyward and creating a platoon with James Outman who doesn’t start against lefties.

“I love him defensively – he’s engaged,” said Roberts. “It’s a plus-plus right field arm with accuracy.”

Without a solid timetable for Heyward’s return and Chris Taylor’s ongoing struggles, Pages will most likely remain with the Dodgers for a while.

“Well, everyone’s idea of awhile is relative,” Roberts said with a smile. “So – yeah, he will. My version is, yes, he will.”

  1. I am most impressed with Andy Pages quick hands. The man is a pure hitter, another.300 + hitter with a power arm in RF. The man should be our primary RF from here on out. When JHey gets back, he should remain our primary left handed hitter off the bench. Let’s not make another Michael Busch mistake. Suddenly our OF looks less dreadful with Hernandez, Ootman and Pages.

  2. James Outman simply CANNOT hit. Last year was a mirage, and this year it’s been proven. It’s obvious ANDY PAGES CAN hit, and should be installed as the EVERDAY centerfielder. Outman MUST be either traded or sent down…PERIOD…No Questions Asked!

  4. He had the best spring of all the young guns and should have been on the opening day roster. Finally there’s an opening in the roster with the injured Heyward on IL, ineptness of CT3, inconsistencies of OUTman and Kike. He can hit to all fields which is a big asset and his defense is above average. Hope he can continue his production until others can find their way.

  5. well, of all the crazy type of game delays andypicks23.com gave out two smashing picks tonight on the website with Texas Rangers defeating the Washinton Nationals 7-1 and the other game as luck would have it the LA Dodgers vs the Arizona diamondbacks Lol.
The Dodgers picked to defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks with no help from the bees.
