Dodgers Free Agency, Trade Joc, Turner to First Base, and More | We Lost to the Walgreens Team!! – Episode 84 | Blue Heaven Podcast
We’re off and on still very much not over it. It’s been one week since the tragic undoing of the Dodgers and the Blue Heaven Boys are learning how to cope and look forward.
On today’s show:
- How about them Nats
- More reactions
- A too early look at free agency
- Big changes finally coming?
- Trade Joc; sign Cole
Listen
Howie F’n Kendrick and the Nats are proving to be a very good team, just like FRG predicted and we wonder if it’s only right to root for them in the World Series… which it is because we sure ain’t going Astros or Yankees!
We go in on Rob Manfred’s balls and deconstruct the notion that playoff baseballs cost Los Angeles when it mattered most.
Next we catch up on everything that’s happened since our last episode. Tommy and Vin reacted the early exit. Roberts and Friedman are back (of course), Honeycutt is retiring, and Bob Geren is likely headed elsewhere.
With a number of changes likely hitting the coaching staff and front office, Clint wonders if this is the off-season where big changes finally come on the player front.
Will they actually be in on free agents like Cole and Rendon? Will they trade Joc or Seager? Will Pollock be back in 2020?
No doubt this off-season will be hot…

We need two to three aces or power starters to compete in the playoffs against the better teams. Right now the Dodgers have one ace in Buehler and untested pitchers in Urias,May and Ginsolin. That’s why the Dodgers need to sign one of the three ,Cole,Strasburg if he opts out and Wheeler. We should sign lefty reliever Smith to work in conjunction with Jansen to close games. Trade pieces are Pederson,Stripling Barnes ,and CT3 or Hernandez to acquire a right hand bat.Let Hill and Ryu walk. Ryu had the year of his life and Hill is too injury prone. Lots of work to do for AF and the front office. Need some new talented faces to move foward to a World Championship. The fans are tired of hearing about salary cap restrictions. Open up the wallet and get it done. There really should be no excuses. Think about the revenue they lost by getting eliminated in the their first round of the playoffs by not having the right playoff roster to compete.
Andy, I think your assessment is right on. I’m sure Friedman will search to see if there is a good pitcher they could trade for instead of a free agent mega contract.you
Q. If you were GM, would you bank on at least one of the aforementioned pitchers turning out to be high quality this next season?
The Dodgers need
A legitimate leadoff hitter.
A good right handed situational hitter who plays every day
A replacement for Jansen
Lefthanded relief pitching
A replacement for Kelly
a steady everyday lineup
A steady infield. Less juggling of positions.
A good dugout assistant to help Roberts.
Mookie Betts, Gerit Cole are good starts
