Dodgers: Gavin Lux Feels He and Mookie Betts are the Best Basketball Duo in Baseball
If you’re a general manager building a basketball team made up of only major league ballplayers, who would you select with your first overall pick?
Several notable names like Aaron Judge, Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout come to mind given their otherworldly combination of size and athleticism.
Outside of former Syracuse hooper and now Cincinnati Reds reliever Amir Garrett, you should look no further than Gavin Lux and superstar outfielder Mookie Betts, according to the 23-year old infielder.
For team dress up day, Lux and Betts dressed up as the dynamic duo from the infamous film “White Men Can’t Jump” during their final road series of the regular season.
During a recent interview with SportsnetLA, Lux was asked who thinks would win in a two on two matchup between he and Betts and Billy Hoyle and Sidney Deane from the movie. Gavin did not hesitate.
“I’m taking me and Mookie all day,” Lux said with a smile. “People don’t know that me and Mookie can hoop like that so I’m taking me and him.”
Lux doubled down on his take, asserting that he and Betts could take on any tandem in the league with the exception of one featuring the Reds’ lefty.
“I’m taking me and him over anybody in that (Dodgers) clubhouse too,” Lux said confidently. “Nobody heard me say but we’re beating anybody in that (Dodgers) clubhouse, anybody in that (Brewers) clubhouse, anybody in the whole league besides maybe Amir Garrett. Anybody else, we’re taking.”
Comment down below who you believe would win a two on two game between prime Sidney and Billy and Betts and Lux!
“In their prime, I’m still taking me and Mookie,” Lux said with a laugh.
