For the first time in 2022, the Dodgers and Giants will get the chance to face off. The two NL West teams will play a 2-game set, their first of many games this year against each other. And while the Giants are down a few big names, they still bring one of the best offenses in baseball to the fight on Tuesday.
Overall, the Giants rank as the best team in baseball in terms of scoring runs scored per game. They’ve already tallied 109 runs across 22 games played this season. The Dodgers offense has put up 102 in 21 games played.
So how have they done it? Even with Brandon Belt sidelined for a little while, they’ve still found a way to get things done. That includes former Dodgers outfielder Joc Pederson slugging 6 homeruns across 16 games. Joc has also knocked in 10 runs and producing really well at the plate.
They’ve also had guys like Thairo Estrada and Wilmer Flores that have helped get the runs across along the way. The Dodgers have the pitching to slow them down, and they do know how to approach Joc at the plate. But it will be one heck of an undertaking for their staff.
Add in the fact that the Dodgers will have to hit against Carlos Rodon, and it’s going to be a tough game right out of the gate. Rodon has been lights out in his first 4 starts of the season, striking out 38 through 23 innings and allowing just 3 earned runs.
