Dodgers GM Brandon Gomes Provides Inside Look on How LA Revitalized Ryan Brasier’s Career

The Dodgers have seen a major uptick in terms of their overall pitching success. It has helped turn the season around and has given them a new sense of life for the year.

It was looking bleak for a bit, and while it’s not exactly where they’d like things to be, it’s stable right now.

One of the players who has helped turn things around for the team has been reliever Ryan Braiser. He was signed to a minor league contract in early June after being released from the Boston Red Sox.

Since then, he has dominated as a member of the Dodgers. He currently has an ERA of 0.99 over 26 games with LA. Compare that to his Red Sox stats where he had an ERA of 7.29 over 20 games, and the Dodgers “magic” is well at work once again.

He has helped turn his career around with LA this season, and they have been thankful for it as well. The veteran right-hander has become one of the more relied members of the Dodgers bullpen. He earned this with his dedication and work ethic.

General Manager Brandon Gomes spoke about Brasier and what he has meant to this team.

“To Ryan’s credit, this is a guy who had pitched in the World Series, had a very good career, and he said ‘I’ll go to Arizona and work, make these adjustments.’ It speaks to his will to win, his compete.”

Per The OC Register

Brasier has come in, put his head down and worked. He brings experience to the table, as Gomes talked about, and should be out into different situations come playoff time.

“When he became available … we had our pitching group take a look at him, and identify that if we were able to implement a cutter it would help versus left-handed hitters,” Gomes said. “He’d always been very good against right-handers. Then (he made) some minor mechanical adjustments.

The Dodgers are known for their ability to take reclamation projects from other teams and turn them into productive players in the league. Brasier is another example of this and is another former member of the Red Sox who is helping LA win games.

The bullpen is going to be called upon as the season winds down and into the playoffs if LA can clinch a spot. They will be x-factors in how far the team goes this season, and it’s going to be fun to watch play out.

  1. Its amazing how the Dodger Braintrust can take pitchers and position players and help them dramatically improve. Brasier has been lights out. Lynn has been great as have Rosario and Hernandez. Yarborough has been very effective also.
